Bus bars can be made from different materials depending on the application requirements:
Copper: Copper is widely used in bus bar systems due to its excellent electrical conductivity. It offers low resistance, which minimizes power losses and voltage drops. Copper bus bars are commonly employed in applications that require high power transmission efficiency.
Aluminum: Aluminum is an alternative material used in bus bar systems. It has a lower conductivity compared to copper but is less expensive and lighter. Aluminum bus bars are often utilized in applications where weight and cost considerations are important, such as in large-scale power distribution or renewable energy installations.
Copper-Clad Aluminum (CCA): CCA bus bars are composed of an aluminum core with a copper coating. This combination provides a balance between conductivity and cost-effectiveness. CCA bus bars can be used in applications where copper may be cost-prohibitive but higher conductivity than pure aluminum is required.
